Turkmenistan starts rice harvest in Dashoguz region

Harvesting of a new rice crop has begun in the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan, Trend reports on Oct.19 citing Business Turkmenistan.

In total, 8,100 hectares of land were allotted for rice fields in the region.

According to the report, when choosing a grain variety, preference is given to "Nukus-2", "Munbash" and "Alenga" varieties that proved themselves in local soil and climatic conditions, and have especially high productivity and yield.

Farmers of specialized associations named after S.A. Niyazov and "October 27" within Saparmurat Turkmenbashi district are the main producers of this crop in the northern region of the country. They plan to harvest 40-45 and more centners of rice per hectare.

In total, this year, the farmers of the northern region are planning to collect and deliver 35,000 tons of rice to the receiving points.
