BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with the Iranian delegation headed by Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare Solat Mortazavi, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the sides stressed the importance of high-level meetings, in the particular, constructive and trusting dialogue between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran in the development of bilateral friendly relations.
The diplomats discussed the expansion of economic cooperation, primarily in the fields of energy, transport and transit. Within this framework, Rashid Meredov spoke in favor of increasing the volume of mutual trade and economic ties between the two countries in the context of regional integration.
As part of the discussion on the development of trade and economic cooperation, the positive dynamics of the growth of trade turnover between the countries was noted. In this context, in order to further realize the existing solid potential, the parties noted the importance of giving impetus to an increase in the volume of mutual trade.
At the end of the meeting, the diplomats paid attention to the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Meanwhile, the Turkmen-Iranian business forum was held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, on February 16, which became a continuation of the economic review and another important new step towards strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran. On the sidelines of the exhibition, representatives of the business circles of both countries held meetings and consultations to establish and deepen partnerships.
