Uzbekistan’s 2M2021 retail trade turnover increases

Retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan from January through February 2021 reached 28.6 trillion soums ($2.7 billion), increasing by 0.7 percent compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

At the same time, the trade turnover of large enterprises for 2M2021 amounted to 4.9 trillion soums ($467 million) with a growth rate of 12.6 percent.

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of turnover of large enterprises amounted to 17.1 percent of the total sales. Their main share was observed in Tashkent (38.7 percent), Samarkand (21.9 percent), Tashkent (12.6 percent) and Khorezm (11.6 percent) regions.

As for small and private trade enterprises, their turnover amounted to 23.7 trillion soums ($2.2 billion), decreasing by 1.4 percent compared to the same period in 2020. The share of this sector in the country in the retail trade turnover reached 82.9 percent.

In addition, the turnover of unorganized trade in 2M2021 amounted to 2.6 trillion soums ($248 million), increasing by 0.8 percent compared to the same period in 2020. Including the turnover of trade in dekhkan markets (family farms) amounted to 1.1 trillion soums ($105 million), (increase of 2.7 percent), in livestock markets 1.5 trillion soums ($143 million) (decrease of 1.3).

In the structure of the country's retail trade turnover, a significant share was noted in Tashkent reaching 24.5 percent, or 7 trillion soums ($669 million).

At the same time, retail trade turnover per capita for two months of 2021 averaged 838,100 soums ($79.82), decreased by 1.2 percent. This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was more recorded in Tashkent ($257), Navoi ($95.24) and Tashkent ($94.98) regions.
