Large industrial enterprises of Uzbekistan from January through June 2021 produced 5.8 million tons of Portland cement, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the committee, the growth rate in Portland cement production compared to the corresponding period of last year amounted to 23 percent.
The committee reports that Portland cement production in Uzbekistan in January 2021 amounted to 559,300 tons (an increase of 7.3 percent), in 2M2021 – 1.3 million tons (18.4 percent), in 3M2021 – 2.2 million tons (14.1 percent), in 4M2021 – 3.6 million tons (26.9 percent) and in 5M2021 – 4.8 million tons (24.2 percent).
It is noted that the largest share in the total volume of products produced by large enterprises for the production of cement in Uzbekistan fell on the Tashkent region - 42.3 percent, Navoi region - 32.2 percent, Jizzakh region - 13.0 percent and Fergana region - 8.5 percent.
Earlier it was reported that one million tons of cement worth $50.5 million were imported to Uzbekistan from January through April 2021, which is 515,100 tons more compared to the same period last year.
According to the committee, Uzbekistan in 4M2021 mainly imported cement from Kazakhstan – 498,900 tons, Kyrgyzstan – 278,500 tons and Tajikistan – 234,700 tons.
Also, in March it was reported that the authorities of Uzbekistan canceled the customs duty on cement imports, which amounts to 30 percent. The discount is valid until October 1.
