Uzbek Statistics Committee shares data on imports of electric cars
Uzbekistan imported 809 electric cars in amount of $16.9 million from 11 foreign countries in 2021, Trend reports referring to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
The import of electric cars increased by 679 units or 6.2 times compared to 2020.
During this period, most of the electric cars were imported from China in the amount of 724 units.
The main countries that exported electric cars to Uzbekistan in 2021 were: Turkey (24), the US (22), Lithuania (13), Germany (12), South Korea (5), Spain (2), Russia (2), Ukraine (2).
Previously, it was reported that Central Asia Motors company plans to manufacture the first electric cars in Uzbekistan. The company's project on the manufacturing of electric cars in the Fergana region (Uzbekistan) is estimated at $50 million, of which $40 million is foreign direct investment. Central Asia Motors plans to produce up to 10,000 electric cars yearly.
