BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 26. Interest income of the banking sector of Uzbekistan increased by 34.5 percent from January through July 2022, compared to the same period of last year (26.3 trillion soums, or $2.4 billion), reaching 35.4 trillion soums ($3.2 billion), Trend reports via the Uzbek Central Bank.
During this period, the interest expenses of Uzbek banks increased by 28.7 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (16.9 trillion soums, or $1.5 billion), reaching 21.8 trillion soums ($1.9 billion).
From January through July 2022, the interest margin amounted to 20.4 trillion soums ($1.8 billion), which is an increase of 44.9 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (11.2 trillion soums, or $1 billion).
At the same time, non-interest income reached 6.4 trillion soums ($589.3 million), which is an increase of 2.4 times, compared to the specified period last year (2.7 trillion soums, or $249.5 million).
