BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. CITIC Group Corporation Ltd., a state-owned investment company of China, expressed interest in building an agricultural logistics park in the Khavas district of Uzbekistan’s Sirdaryo region, Trend reports via the press service of the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture.
The matter was discussed between Uzbek Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov and the Vice President of Agricultural Division at the Chinese company Yibo Wang.
According to the ministry, the Chinese company plans to build an agro logistic park worth $50 million on the 32 hectares of land plots.
The message says that the complex will include warehouses with a capacity of 50,000 tons, offices and hotels, customs posts, vehicle fleets, phytosanitary and veterinary inspection points, as well as container receiving points.
It is expected that the establishment of this agro logistic park will export about 300,000 tons of agricultural products to trade partners of Uzbekistan, in particular, to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, China, and Afghanistan.
Uzbekistan's government pays special attention to the development of the agricultural sector of the country. In this regard, Uzbekistan attracts funds from international organizations and cooperates with major international agro companies to develop this sector.
Recently, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Umid Mamadaminov held a meeting with the leadership of the cotton and textile cluster created on the basis of investments of the South Korean POSCO International corporation during which they discussed new investment agricultural projects.
During the meeting, the cluster management presented plans to expand activities for the next three years and implement investment projects in the Tashkent, Kashkadarya, and Fergana regions with a total value of $196 million.
