TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 13. South Korea, Uzbekistan signed a number of agreements with a total worth of $10 million, Trend reports.

The news followed a meeting between a delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by Deputy Governor of Uzbekistan’s Namangan region Botirjon Nuritdinov and the Mayor of South Korean Puyo Park Joon Hoon.

The signed agreements are aimed at the establishment of tourist and cultural ties, the development of 1,000 hectares of unused land in Uzbekistan' Chust district, the creation of a logistics center for processing, packaging and export of agricultural products in the city of Namangan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed bringing relations between the regions to a new level, acceleration of the implementation of previously agreed projects, creation of a working group on project management and the development of a roadmap.

South Korean representatives also noted that delegations from several South Korean cities plan to visit the region by the end of 2023 for assessing the region’s potential for development of Uzbek-South Korean relationships.

Earlier this year, South Korea selected Uzbekistan as one of its partner countries to implement demonstrative pilot projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

President of South Korean Institute for Climate Change (KICC Inc.) Shin Yong Won presented a $1.6 million pilot project in Uzbekistan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The presented initiative will provide for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by switching from conventional fuel to bio-pellets at a brick factory. Shin Yong Won informed the participants that the company has started the production of bio-pellets based on licorice root production waste.
