Some 700 kilometers of pipelines to be commissioned across Iran

Iran will inaugurate some 700 kilometers length of new gas pipelines nationwide by the end of the current calendar year, which ends on March 20, 2103, the managing director of Iran's Gas Engineering and Development Company said.

Alireza Gharibi told the Mehr News Agency that five new gas transfer facilities will be also built in the current year.

The length of Iranian gas pipeline network has hit 214 thousand kilometers, the manager of gas supply services at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said, the Shana News Agency reported on May 11.

During the last Iranian calendar year, some 22 thousand kilometers of gas pipeline was constructed across the country, indicating 33 percent growth in comparison to a year earlier.

The managing director has said that the country's daily oil and gas outputs should amount to five million barrels and 1.47 billion cubic meters by 2015.

Iran sits on the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia.
