Iran warns world powers against 'unconstructive measures'

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili has warned the P5+1 group of world powers against adopting any unconstructive measures, Press TV reported.

In a new letter to Catherin Ashton, the chief negotiator for the P5+1 group, Jalili said successful talks are only possible in the framework of cooperation.

Those who replace logic with illegitimate measures harm the talks, the top Iranian negotiator said.

The EU foreign ministers on Monday gave the final green light for Iran to be hit with a full oil embargo in a bid to get the country to change course on its controversial nuclear programme.

U.S., other Western countries, and Israel suspect Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of peaceful nuclear energy program. Tehran denies the charges, saying its nuclear program is for anything but military purposes. A number of states and international organizations, including the United Nations, adopted sanctions against Iran demanding from the Islamic republic to ensure full transparency of its nuclear program and to prove that it is exclusively for peaceful purposes.

Six world powers (China, Russia, USA, UK, France + Germany) have sought since 2003 in cooperation with the IAEA Iran's suspension of uranium enrichment, which can pose a threat to the nuclear non-proliferation.

The next round of talks between Tehran and six world powers on the Iranian nuclear issue will be held in Moscow on June 18-19. Previous rounds were held in Istanbul and Baghdad.
