Each vote in the upcoming election is considered a positive vote to the Islamic Republic itself, the Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday.
The Iranian nation will give a crushing response to the enemies with a high turnout in the upcoming presidential election, the IRNA News Agency quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as saying.
He made the remarks in an address to a huge gathering of people marking the 24th passing anniversary of the founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.
Ayatollah Khamenei described the election as a manifestation of the will of the nation.
He further noted that people's participation in the election indicates their confidence in the Islamic establishment.
"The enemies are seeking to portray the election as a threat to the Islamic establishment whereas the vote is in fact a great opportunity," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
He went on to note that the Iranian nation will once again foil enemy plots, with its resistance and massive turnout in the upcoming polls.
Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14, 2013.
The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term according to the country's constitutional laws.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election. The Guardian Council has vetted the candidates for qualifications.
