Iran reveals volume of passenger car imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. Iran imported 4,015 passenger cars worth $88 million from March 20 through June 9, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Iran, Director General of Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvanifar said, Trend reports.

He claims that 12,704 passenger automobiles are presently within the country's customs territory. The entry of these vehicles into the country is subject to legal processes.

Rezvanifar noted that documents for 6,434 passenger cars out of 12,704 have been submitted to customs and work is underway to release them into the country. The documents for 6270 passenger cars have not been submitted to customs yet. In the coming days, 1,000 passenger cars will be released into the country with the documents submitted to customs.

Rezvanifar stated that during the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), 11,122 cars worth $218 million were imported to the country.

To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, 5.84 million tons of products worth about $9.08 billion were imported to the country during 2 months (from March 20 through May 20, 2024). Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 9.19 percent in value terms and 13.3 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.
