Iran, Azerbaijan trade turnover hits $ 293 million

Trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan has surpassed $293 million during the 7-month period from March 21 to Oct. 22, 8.44 percent less compared to the same months of the preceding year (Iran's fiscal year starts on March 21).

Iran has exported $279.28 million worth of goods to Azerbaijan during the period, which indicates a fall by 8.91 percent year on year, the Iranian Customs Administration said in its latest monthly report released Nov. 3.

The Islamic Republic exported some 1.379 million metric tons of goods to Azerbaijan during that period which is 18.58 percent less compared the 7-month period of last year.

Iran also imported some $13.702 million worth of goods from Azerbaijan during the period, 1.42 percent more than the last fiscal year's first seven months (March 21 to Oct. 22, 2013).

Iran-Azerbaijan trade balance, stood at $266 million in the 7-month period, compared to $ 293 million in the same period of the preceding year.

Azerbaijan ranked fifth at the list of the countries Iran had the highest positive trade balance after Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Pakistan.

The Islamic Republic has exported 165,044 metric tons of goods, worth $51.52 million to Azerbaijan during the 7th Iranian calendar month of Mehr (Sept. 22- Oct. 22), which indicates a fall of 3.38 percent in terms of volume and a rise by 45.86 percent in terms of value respectively compared to the same period of last year.

Iran's trade balance with Azerbaijan stood at $450 million in the previous Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20.

Iran Customs administration reported that the country's exports to Azerbaijan surpassed $482 million, meanwhile Tehran imported $32 million worth of goods from Baku in the mentioned period.

Iran's foreign trade amounted to $57.214 billion in the first seven months of the current Iranian fiscal year.

Iran's non-oil exports accounted for $26.943 billion of the mentioned amount, while imports accounted for $30.271 billion.
