Tehran and Muscat have signed a deal on the export of gas from Iran to Oman.
Accordingly, agreements were made on study projects directed at the two onshore and offshore phases of the project, IRNA news agency reported.
CEO of the Iranian Gas Export Company Alireza Kameli, the Iranian Engineering and Construction Company's representative, and CEO of Planning and Projects Evaluation at the Omani Ministry of Oil and Gas Seif bin Hamad al-Salmani signed a contract on the offshore side study.
The onshore part of the study project was also given to the Iranian Pars Consulting Engineers Group. The onshore pipeline stretches from Iran's city of Rudan for 200 kilometers to Kuhmobarak and the project is to be carried out in six months.
The offshore pipeline stretches for another 200 kilometers from Kuhmobarak to Port Sahar in Oman and is to be finished in five months.
The project follows an agreement between Tehran and Muscat whereby Iran should export 28 million cubic meters of gas per day to Oman for 15 years. The contract is worth $60 million.
Omani Oil and Gas Minister Muhammad bin Hamad al-Ramhi is travelling to Tehran today to meet his Iranian counterpart Bijan Zanganeh.
