The Netherlands Airport Consultants (NACO) signed an agreement with Iran to participate in construction of Imam Khomeini Airport City.

Based on agreement which was signed by Kjell Kloosterziel, NACO's representative and Mahmoud Navidi, the managing director of Imam Khomeini Airport City Company, the Dutch company will play a consultancy role in the construction of the project, Iran's Transport and Urban Development Ministry reported Dec. 19.

The NACO will offer its consultancy service during a five-year period, in which the first phase of the project will be implemented.

The first phase of the Imam Khomeini Airport City includes Iranshahr and Salam Terminals with annual capacity of 20 million and five million passengers respectively as well as a free trade zone.

Once the project come to stream the airport's annual passenger capacity will increase from current level of six million to over 30 million.

According to the aviation roadmap depicted by Iranian Transport and Urban Development Ministry, Iran should be a hub airport over the next coming years, securing a place in the aviation industry of the region.
