Reports regarding a plan by MOL Group, a leading international, integrated oil and gas company from Hungary, to import crude oil from Iran through the Adriatic pipeline came out as confirmed.
Speaking to Trend, MOL spokesperson Tamas Berzi confirmed the recent reports suggesting that the company plans to purchase oil from Iran through the Adriatic pipeline.
Berzi referred to a Reuters interview with MOL Group's Executive Vice President for Downstream, Ferenc Horvath, where the plans to start importing oil from Iran via the Adriatic pipeline were mentioned.
Hungary has never purchased crude from Iran and in case the plan for exporting the Islamic republic's crude to the European state becomes materialized it will be Tehran's first oil business with Hungary.
In the meantime Iran's heavy oil dropped by $7.66 to $24.07 per barrel in price in January month-to-month, while the country's oil production surpassed 2.9 million barrels per day (bpd) last month for first time since August 2012, a month after imposing western sanctions on Iran.
