By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

Iran ready to build an oil refinery in Afghanistan, Abbas Kazemi, the Islamic Republic’s deputy oil minister, said.

Construction of oil pipeline between Iran and Afghanistan is not economically justified at the moment, given the current level of the mutual oil products trade, Kazemi said, Mehr news agency reported Aug. 22.

If the oil products’ export to Afghanistan increases, the issue of oil pipeline construction can be studied, he added.

Iran is able to supply Afghanistan with fuel for 30 years, he said, offering to Afghanistan to consider the issue.

Iran exports oil products, in particular diesel to Afghanistan.

The Islamic Republic exported 224 million liters of diesel to Afghanistan and Central Asian countries in the last fiscal year (ended on March 20).
