Exports of Iranian province to Afghanistan up by 85%

Exports to Afghanistan from Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province increased by 85 percent during the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), compared to the same period last year, Nader Mirshekar, head of Industries, Mining and Trade Organization of Sistan and Baluchestan, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Mirshekar, export value exceeded $278 million over the past 11 months.

Mirshekar added that 33 percent of the province's products are exported to Afghanistan.

"$58.8 million worth of products have been exported in 11 months, with $219 million worth of products exported from border markets," he said.

The company official said that products worth $832 million in total were exported to other countries.

He went on to say that the products exported to Afghanistan consisted of construction materials (cement), dates, vegetables, apples, chemical and industrial products.

Located on the coast of the Gulf of Oman in southeastern Iran, Sistan and Baluchestan Province has a 300-km border with Afghanistan and a 921-km border with Pakistan.
