Iran exports agricultural products worth over $6B

Iran exported agricultural products worth $6.5 billion last Iranian year (March 21, 2018 - March 21, 2019), said Director General of Export Development Department of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture Jihad Shahrokh Jafari, Trend reports via the ministry’s website.

Jafari added that seven million tons of agricultural products were exported last Iranian year.

The director said that Iran produces 122 million tons of agricultural products per year.

“Of these, 84 million tons are cultivated crops, 22 million tons are horticulture products and 16 million tons are livestock and fishing products,” Jafari noted.

The director said that Iran is the second biggest producer of dates after Egypt. Egypt and Iran produce 1.6 million tons and 1.15 tons of dates a year respectively, Jafari added.

Having noted that the Memorandum of Economic Cooperation between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be in force starting from Oct. 27, Jafari said that all exporters and traders should be informed in this regard.

In accordance with the memorandum, reduced tariffs will be applied to 862 products.
