Iran's Sangan iron ore complex increases production of pellets

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 5. Production of iron ore pellets at Sangan Iron Ore Complex in Razavi-Khorasan Province, located in northeastern Iran, increased 128 percent during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024) compared to the same period last year, Trend reports, referring to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

During 11 months, Sangan Iron Ore Complex produced about 1.54 million tons of iron ore pellets. However, the complex was scheduled to produce 1.2 million tons of iron ore pellets.

About 926,000 tons of iron ore pellets of the Sangan iron ore complex were sold in 11 months. This is a 154 percent increase over the planned plan.

However, it was planned to produce 600,000 tons of iron ore pellets of the Sangan iron ore complex during the mentioned period.

Iran’s Sangan Mining Industries Company has been operating near the Sangan Iron Ore Complex in the Razavi Khorasan Province since 2015. This company has the capacity to produce 5 million tons of iron ore pellets and iron ore concentrate per year.

The Sangan Iron Ore Complex operates under the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO). There are 7 mines in the complex. The Sangan Complex is regarded as one of the 10 largest iron ore fields in the world. The complex has 1 billion tons of iron ore reserves.
