Iran expected the Security Council resolution to address the airstrikes which have targeted the infrastructure and innocent people of Yemen, but unfortunately the issue has been neglected, said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham.

It is expected that the Yemeni case would be treated realistically and based on the realities out there in the country, she asserted.

"We believe there is no military solution to the Yemni crisis, but the only solution is the political one, she said," Mehr news agency reported April 15.

Afkham urged Yemeni-Yemeni talks in order to prevent further complication of the situation.

"Accordingly, Iran has offered a 4-stage plan. This 4-stage plan, which starts with halting the attacks, urges philanthropic, humanization aids which are necessary considering the extreme situations in Yemen," she further stated.

She said that Yemen is likely to face a human catastrophe, urging talks for forming a national unity government.

Iran strongly condemns the Saudi Arabia attack on Yemen.

The Saudi airstrikes followed the rise of the Houthi movement to power which caused the overthrow of the previous government.

Saudi Arabia and some other regional countries accuse Iran of backing the Houthi group, Iran denies that.
