The EU looks forward to the initialing of the Association Agreement with Georgia and the European Union during the Vilnius summit of "Eastern Partnership "on November 28-29 , European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said on Tuesday in Brussels after a meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
" We hope that the initialing of the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia will happen at the summit in Vilnius ," he said .
Barroso believes that during Saakashvili 's presidency, Georgia has made significant progress in building a democratic , law-based society and the rule of law.
As noted by Mikhail Saakashvili , he received an answer to his old question of whether or not Georgia is now more stable and developed country than a few years ago.
"Mr. Barroso assured me that yes, Georgia is a stable country ," he said , thanking the EU for cooperation.
The Georgian President stressed that his country held free elections, and now we can safely say that it is moving forward , ensuring democratic transfer of power.
As for the final signing of the Association Agreement , Barroso and Saakashvili hoped to sign the document with Georgia in November 2014.
