Head of the Georgian parliamentary committee on procedural issues Irina Imerlishvili has accepted a proposal to head the National Security Council of the country.

Imerlishvili told journalists on Friday. "After the president takes the oath on November 17, I will become Secretary of the National Security Council," she said.

Incumbent secretary of the National Security Council Giorgi Bokeria has resigned.

The Georgian presidential election was held on October 27.

The Georgian Dream ruling coalition candidate Giorgi Margvelashvili won the election gaining 62.11 per cent of votes.
