British media have predicted that the former model Heather Mills will receive a settlement ranging from a British record 60 million pounds (120 million dollars) to "merely" 10 million.

High Court family Judge Hugh Bennett is to decide the size of the settlement for Mills, as well as the costs of maintenance for the couple's 4-year-old daughter Beatrice, in an acrimonious divorce battle.

Whether the 65-year-old superstar and Mills, who is 25 years younger, will be left satisfied or will contest Bennett's ruling has been a point of intense speculation.

If either requests an appeal in a case which saw no "dirty laundry" aired in public, any further negotiations will be held in public, in accordance with British law.

It was therefore widely expected both will agree. Is was not clear which, and how much of, the details of the judge's decision can be published.

London's Evening Standard newspaper had already reported Friday that Mills was to receive a settlement of 25 million pounds.

But there had been speculation of a deal that could be the most expensive in British legal history, with Mills claiming a share of up to 60 million pounds of the ex-Beatle's 825-million-pound fortune.

Mills, 40, married Sir Paul in 2002, and announced their separation four years later.

Sir Paul, 65, was known to have tried during the divorce proceedings to stop Mills from revealing details of their marriage to the media, or selling her story.
