China calls on both Koreas to refrain from trouble, TRT English reported.
In a statement Chinese foreign ministry said the situation in the Korean peninsula was extremely complicated and delicate.
Reiterating the call for calm and dialogue to both Koreas, the Chinese statement said if a bloody conflict occurred in the region, regional peace and stability would be shattered and the first ones to be damaged would be the peoples of both Koreas.
Russia also called on South Korea to drop the military drill plan in the Yellow Sea, warning that it could rise the tension in the region.
Making contacts in North Korean capital Pyongyang US official Bill Richardson defined the situation as a "tinderbox" and said both countries should hold a summit to seek solutions to their problems.
Seoul is insistent on the 3-day long military drill that is to start on Saturday. Reportedly, real ammunition will be used in the exercise.
North Korea said if the drill takes place its response will be tough.
