Hollywood diva Zsa Zsa Gabor successfully underwent an operation Friday to amputate part of her right leg, dpa reported.
An infection prompted the need to remove the leg above the knee.
"Everything went very well," Gabor's husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt told the German Press Agency dpa. "Her heart cooperated and there were no complications."
The 93-year-old Gabor will need to stay in hospital for at least two weeks.
She was brought to the University of California at Los Angeles medical centre in early January because of an unhealed wound.
The star of 1950s film hits such as Moulin Rouge has been in and out of the hospital since she broke her hip in a fall last year.
