Portugal's foreign minister meets with Libyan representative
A representative from Libyan leader Moamer Gaddafi's regime met late Wednesday with Portugese Foreign Minister Luis Amado, dpa reported.
The "informal meeting" took place in a hotel in Portugal's capital at the request of the Libyan government, a Foreign Ministry spokesman told the Lusa news agency.
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton was informed of the meeting.
Neither the identity of the representative or the content of the conversation was made public.
The meeting came one day before an emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers Thursday.
