Two Afghan intelligence officers were killed and five people injured in separate attacks Sunday, while police prevented an attack in the capital, officials said, dpa reports.
A suicide bomber detonated his car in eastern Nangarhar province, provincial spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.
"The incident took place this morning at the gate of a National Directorate of Security, in which two NDS officers were killed and three others were injured in Jalalabad city," Abdulzai said by phone.
"No civilians were hurt in this attack," he said.
Two soldiers were injured when a car rigged with explosives was detonated remotely in eastern Afghanistan, Logar provincial spokesman Din Mohammad Darwesh said.
The Taliban movement claimed responsibility for both attacks.
Police also shot dead one bomber before he could blow himself up in neighboring Baraki Barak district, Darwesh said.
Another attacker travelling in an explosives-laden car was killed Sunday morning by police in Kabul.
"Police identified and killed the attacker and defused the explosives hidden in the car," police chief Ayoub Salangi said.
The incident took place in upscale neighborhood of Sherpur that houses several expatriates, aid agencies, and Afghan politicians.
