Turkey's unemployment rate decreases to 10.3 percent

Turkey's unemployment rate in November 2017 stood at 10.3 percent, decreasing 1.8 percentage points year-on-year, turkish media with reference to the TurkStat reports.

The number of people employed increased in November by 1,448 million to reach 28,151 million people, while the number of the unemployed decreased by 440,000 people to reach 3,275 million.

The employment rate increased by 1.5 percent to 4.73 percent, TurkStat said in the statement.

Labor force participation also increased by 0.7 percentage points to 52.8 percent.

In the same period, non-agricultural unemployment rate occurred as 12.2 percent with 2.1 percentage points decrease, TurkStat said.

While youth unemployment rate including persons aged 15-24 was 19.3 percent with 3.3 percentage points decrease, the unemployment rate for persons aged 15-64 occurred as 10.5 percent with 1.8 percentage points decrease, it added.

According to the distribution of employment by sector; 18.6 percent was employed in agriculture, 19.2 percent was in industry, 7.6 percent was in construction and 54.6 percent was in service.

The rate of unregistered employment realized as 33.6 percent with a 0.3 percentage points increase from the same month of the previous year.
