More than 50 percent of steel pipes needed for construction of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) have been delivered in Greece and Albania, according to the message posted on TAP’s Twitter page.
TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.
The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy's south.
The length of the pipeline in Greece is approximately 550 kilometers. TAP’s longest section, it will start at Kipoi, near the country’s border with Turkey, and finish at its border with Albania, south-west of Ieropigi.
TAP’s route through Albania is approximately 215 kilometers onshore and 37 km offshore in the Albanian section of the Adriatic Sea.
