Iran sent warnings to US fighters and drones during a massive military drill ongoing in the south of the country, Brigadier General Abbas Farajpour, the spokesman of the drill, said, Tasnim news agency reported Dec. 28.
The Iranian air defense base, Khatam al-Anbiya, warned the US fighters and drones to stay away from the aerial zone of the drill 12 times in last three days, Farajpour said.
He further said the aircraft belonging to “trans-regional forces” try to collect information from the drill area.
Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base launched a massive drill named “Modafean-e Aseman-e Velayat 7” (Defenders of Velayat Skies 7) on Dec. 26.
The base has employed a broad range of equipment, including tactical radars, mobile watch posts, and ground-based and air-based eavesdropping systems in the drill which covers an area of 496,000 square kilometers in Iran’s southern provinces of Hormozgan, Bushehr and Khuzestan.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base holds routine military exercises throughout the year. Iran’s integrated air defense network protects 3,700 sensitive sites across the country, including nuclear facilities.
