A military unit commander was tried for a crime that led to the death of seven soldiers in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov told media.

Serious measures are being taken, Garalov said. "Various examinations revealed that one of the soldiers committed the crime," he said. "The causes are under further investigation. Numerous violations committed by the military unit command where the crime occurred, were revealed."

Seven soldiers of the Azerbaijani army died as a result of the incident in a military unit in Murovdag on Feb. 20.

Seven Azerbaijani soldiers were killed as a result of an incident in the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry's Military Unit No. N at 09:40 on Feb.20, a joint statement by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry and the country's Military Prosecutor's Office said.

As a result of the incident 19 year old Naib Guliyev (Beylagan Region Military Commissariat), 20 year old Javid Javadzade (Mingachevir Region Military Commissariat), 20 year old Nurlan Suanverdiyev (Agdam Region Military Commissariat), 19 year old Ramazan Khojberov (Balakan Region Military Commissariat), 20 year old Afgan Karimov (Balakan Region Military Commissariat), 19 year old Ahmad Huseynov (Agjabadi Region Military Commissariat ), 20 year old Zakir Guliyev (Yasamal District Military Commissariat) were killed.

A criminal case has been filed under Article 120.2.7 (deliberate murder of two or more persons).
