During the first six months of 2009, BP Company (operator of BTC, Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz projects) exported from the Sangachal terminal over 806,000 barrels of oil and over 665.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, the company said.
Oil is transported from the Sangachal terminal to the global markets, principally via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC), and gas via the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP). The Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP) is also currently operational and during the fist half of 2009 it carried over 91,000 barrels of oil per day to the Supsa Terminal on the Black Sea.
The capacity of the terminal's overall processing systems is currently 1.2 million barrels of oil and 39.5 million cubic metres of gas per day.
The terminal's highest daily export rate in 2009 was on the 1st of May when Sangachal processed and exported 1,001,270 barrels of oil (of this 846,340 barrels went into BTC, 88,674 barrels went into WREP and the remaining 66,256 barrels were exported by rail.
