According to the preliminary data, there are no Azerbaijanis among the victims and survivors of the earthquake in Uzbekistan, the Azerbaijani embassy in Uzbekistan told Trend.

The embassy reported that the earthquake occurred last night. It affected the regions of the country, densely populated by Azerbaijanis-Uzbek citizens. The embassy has not received the information about injured Azerbaijanis.

According to the Uzbek Ministry for Emergency Situations, 13 people died, 86 were injured during the earthquake last night.

"Some residential buildings were damaged during the earthquake in Rishtan, Baghdad and Ferghana regions," the message said. "As a result, 13 people died. Medical aid was rendered to 86 people and 35 people were hospitalized."

According to the instructions of Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the government operates to remove the consequences of an emergency situation and provide comprehensive assistance to the victims.

"The country's leadership expressed condolences to the families of those died in the earthquake," the report said.

According to the seismological station "Tashkent", an earthquake occurred on the territory of the republic on July 20 at 00:35 local time. The epicenter was at 235 kilometers south-west of Tashkent in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, where the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.5-7 points.
