Azerbaijani ambassador to Turkey congratulates country on municipal elections

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkey Zakir Hashimov congratulated Turkey on successful municipal elections.

Hashimov met with ambassadors of Turkic-speaking countries in Turkey, senior officials of the Turkish Foreign Ministry and Parliament, Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkey told Trend on Apr. 3.

On March 29, Turkey held municipal elections. The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) won a majority of votes.

The meeting was attended by Turkey's Deputy Foreign Minister Unal Chevikoz, chairmen of parliamentary friendship groups with Turkic-speaking nations in the Turkish Parliament, AKP Deputy Chairman Haluk Ipek, and TÜRKSOY Chairman Duysen Kasseinov.

Along with bilateral relations, participants also discussed multilateral ties. They noted an important role of embassies in development of joint cooperation and relations among Turkic-speaking countries and peoples, the high rate of development of relations, a need for support and close involvement in the activities of the TÜRKSOY.
