Greek embassy to move to Almaty from Astana in May

The Greek Embassy officials will move from Almaty to Astana early May, Greek Ambassador to Kazakhstan Evangelos Denaksas told journalists.

"Before moving, I want to thank management and people of Almaty city for hospitality which they rendered to the embassy within12 years," the Greek ambassador said.

The ambassador also noted that with a sense of grief, they leave the city which was described by great Greek writer and thinker Nikos Kazanzakis ("Greek Zorba").

"Meanwhile, moving from Almaty does not mean that we break all relations with this city," the diplomat said.

"It is planned to open the consulate led by the Greek Embassy soon. A great number of ethnic Greek in this region connects us," the ambassador noted.
