Georgia, Tbilisi, May 17 Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

Georgian First Lady Sandra Roelofs is in France taking part in the plenary session of the Global Parliamentary Summit. The event is organized by the European Parliamentary Forum. She will address the French Senate.

The "Girls and Population: Forgotten Developmental Power" summit is being held in Paris on May 16-17, 10 days before the scheduled G-8 meeting in France.

MPs and government representatives from over 60 countries are attending the event.

The summit aims to draw the G8's attention to one of the most problematic issues -- rapid population growth and the forgotten role girls and young women play in society's development.

The summit will focus on the state of 600 million women and girls living in developing countries and on the positive socio-economic changes that will occur as a result of improving their state.
