Fifty-two Iranian officials resign to run in parliamentary election

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 5 /Trend/

Fifty-two Iranian officials have resigned to run for parliamentary elections on March 12, 2012, ISNA reported quoting head of Iran's election headquarters Solat Mortazavi as saying.

Four deputy governors, seven governors, two regional governors, 30 managing directors of administrative organizations and three Friday prayer leaders resigned to run in parliamentary elections.

Iranian Deputy Interior Minister for Political and Security Affairs Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini was also among the resigned officials.

The resignations were submitted before the deadline on June 30 and the officials can apply for parliamentary elections.

Deputy Mines and Industries Minister for Legal, Parliamentary and Provincial Affairs Iraj Nadimi alongside two advisors of Ministry resigned last week.
