Vice Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Baramidze discussed in the U.S. the need for peaceful settlement of the South Ossetian conflict with the Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon and his assistant Eric Rubin, a source at the Vice Prime Minister's office said.
The sides also discussed prospects of European integration in light of NATO Summit 2012, as well as the need to develop cooperation between Georgia and U.S.
Baramidze thanked the U.S. for the support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and the resolution adopted by the Senate regarding the occupied territories of Georgia.
Baramidze paid particular attention to reforms successfully implemented in the spheres of development of democratic institutions, anti-corruption, police, judiciary, health and education.
