The mandate on conduction of transborder operation against Syria, which was approved by Turkish government, is not a declaration of war against this country, Turkish deputy PM Beshir Atalay reported to TRT Haber tv channel on Thursday.

The mandate on conduction of transborder operation against Syria, which was approved by Turkish government, is not a declaration of war against this country, Turkish deputy PM Beshir Atalay reported to TRT Haber tv channel on Thursday.

In his words, Turkish government took this step to provide security of its citizens.

Turkish parliament approved the mandate on transborder operations against Syria as an answer to firing on Turkish Shanliurfa city by Syrian army.

The shells fired from Syrian territory, exploded on the territory of Turkey, five people were killed. According to Turkish mass media, the shelling was carried out by government army.

As an answer to shelling Turkey has struck the Syrian territories, from which the firing was carried out.
