Unfortunately, Edward Nalbandian delivered his speech as Armenian Foreign Minister, rather than Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Council of Europe. This is the flagrant violation of CE rules, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov told journalists today.
He was commenting on the results of the summer session of the organization.
In this regard, Azerbaijan has sent a protest letter to the CE leadership, Seyidov said.
"It was indicated that Edward Nalbandian voiced the wrong issues, which do not reflect the reality and are not relevant to Azerbaijan," he added. "Moreover, they are not true. I once again want to say that his speech in the Council of Europe as chairman of the Cabinet Ministers of the Council of Europe is unacceptable. Therefore, members of the PACE Monitoring Committee voiced their protest."
According to Seyidov, Nalbandian's statement was again discussed at today's meeting of the PACE bureau. It was stressed that this is unacceptable and must be stopped within the six-month presidency.
"As chairman of the Azerbaijani delegation, I put the letter sent to the PACE chairman on the agenda," Seyidov said.
