The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project is one of the major routes for delivery of oil from Kazakhstan to Europe. If we are to carry out oil production in Kazakhstan, our company would participate in this project, Migel Ankhel Korvalan Leon, the General Manager of Repsol, exclusively informed Trend Special Correspondent in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan, which becomes a biggest oil exporter with each year, inevitably faces with a problem of oil transportation. BTC is a new and feasible project as compared to the CPC (Tengiz-Novorossiysk), he said.
Kazakhstan should use every opportunity for oil transportation, including deliveries to China (Atasu - Alashakou). More corridors, for the better. This is the issue of diversification, Leon stressed.
Repsol entered the Kazakhstan market in 1997, when it opened an office in Almaty with respect to carry out work in the Baykanur block, awarded a consortium with Repsol YPF (60% stake and operatorship) and Enterprise Oil (at present Shell company - 40% -stake).
