AZN 7.5 mln from Public Budget to Be Allocated for Opening of 10 New Embassies

The Ministry of Finance official, Shakir Guliyev, stated at a meeting of the permanent parliamentary commission of Milli Majlis [parliament] during discussions of a draft law on 2007 Public Budget that a total of AZN 7.5mln would be allocated from the Public Budget for the opening of 10 new embassies in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

He noted that the new embassies will function in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Qatar, Malaysia, Croatia, and the Netherlands. Guliyev noted that while the Public Budget was still being developed, all proposals and disagreements by Ambassadors would be considered.

The Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister, Vagif Sadygov, noted that our country has diplomatic relations with 160 countries. Azerbaijan has embassies in 38 countries, permanent representations in 4 international organizations and General Consulates in 5 cities. Twenty representations of Azerbaijan have been opened in Azerbaijan since 2004. Next year Azerbaijan's diplomatic representations will open in 10 countries.
