Bulgarian Prime Minister to Visit   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / Famil Aliyev, Adviser to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Bulgaria, reported that the Bulgarian Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, plans to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan this year.

The visit is arranged at the invitation of the Azerbaijani Prime Minister, Artur Rasizade, Aiyev said during a telephone conversation. He noted that the Bulgarian prime minister confirmed his intention at the meeting with the Azerbaijani Minister for Emergency Situations, Kamaladdin Heydarov, who visited Sofia on 17 and 18 April.

Stanishev voiced his government's interests to expand trade and economic relationships with Azerbaijan, which has a great deal more potential. The goods turnover between the two countries made up $56mln last year, including the Azerbaijani export in the amount of $47mln and import $9mln.

Aliyev noted that the Bulgarian prime minister also stressed the necessity to intensify bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic co-operation. The next meeting of the commission will be held in Sofia during the second half of 2007.
