Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 19 / Trend , K.Zarbaliyeva /

The Baku Appeals Court has not resumed the activities of the Abu Bakr Mosque.

The court upheld the verdict of the Narimanov District Court, Narimanov religious community lawyer and representative Javanshir Suleymanov said.

On Oct. 27, the Narimanov District Police Station appealed a court decision to resume the activity of the Abu Bakr Mosque. The appeal said the decision to resume the mosque's activity must be annulled as the court received information about future crimes to be committed at the mosque.

The appeal said canceling the decision is necessary to preserve safety and order.

A hand grenade was thrown into the mosque on Aug. 17 2008. Two men were killed and 19 injured. The activities of the mosque were suspended after the blast. Elnur Bakhshiyev of Sumgayit was arrested and charged with committing terrorism.

An appeal will be submitted to the Supreme Court soon, Suleymanov said.
