School-leavers of Russian sector to pass second exam on Azerbaijani language

A total of 3,516 school-leavers of the Russian sector of education will pass the second examination on the Azerbaijani language to be held in Baku and Nakhchivan on June 21.

"Some 1,996 entrants are graduates of this year, 1,520 - previous years and 68 - citizens of foreign countries. The minimum score to succeed in the examinations is 12 points," the State Students Admission Commission Deputy Chairman Namiq Babayev told journalists on June 19.

Under the law "On State language of Azerbaijan Republic", a students studying at the Russian sector must pass a test examination on the Azerbaijani language before entering the university. Only 8,550 people of 10,934 students of the Russian sector succeeded in the first stage of the examinations.

School-leavers of the Russian sector must hasten to receive admission lists for the examinations, Babayev said. "Students' admission lists will be printed on the SSAC Web site on June 17. So far, less than 50 percent of applicants have received an admission list," he said.
