California's leading Cedars-Sinai Medical Center hosted an event dedicated to Azerbaijan. Speaking at the evening organized by the cultural society, which brought together medics of the Middle East birth in Los Angeles (Near-Eastern American Medical Society of Los Angeles), Dr. Nurulla Parkhami acquainted the guests with rich traditions of the Azerbaijani music, Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles said.
Parkhami particularly touched upon evolution of the Azerbaijani "tar" (musical instrument) and inter-influence of cultures of the region. Records of the Azerbaijani music masters, including Ramiz Guliyev, as well as fragments from the film "Arshin mal alan" and record of the "Garabag shikestesi" concert were demonstrated.
In turn, a native of Azerbaijan, St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre soloist Timur Abdikeyev performed the Azerbaijani folk song "Sari gelin" in live performance.
Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov also addressed to the event. He spoke about the dynamics of regional development in Eurasia.
