Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan awards best teachers of Russian language and literature

The Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan has today awarded the winners of the competitions titled "The Best Russian Teacher of the Year "and "The Best Russian Sector School of the Year."

The contests were held by the Russian embassy and the Russian cooperation mission with the support of the Azerbaijani Education Ministry. The competition was attended by more than 50 schools of Baku and the regions.

Russian ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin welcomed the guests.

"We, in Russia, are very much appreciating the position of the Azerbaijani leadership, which legally and financially provide all conditions for everyone, who wants to write, speak and study in Russian, to do it. But most importantly, there is a demand for these opportunities in Azerbaijan," Dorokhin said.

He said the two states live in a spirit of realism and pragmatism. "Russia will try to do everything so that the Russian language was in further demand in Azerbaijan, "he said.

"This competition, which was initiated by the Azerbaijani Education Minister, is a step towards the spread of the Russian language in Azerbaijan," Dorokhin said.

He said bilingualism and the connection with Russian culture is good for Azerbaijan.

The Baku Secondary Schools No.20, 95 and 145, the classical gymnasium No. 160 and the lyceum at the Baku Slavic University, as well as Shamakhi Secondary School No.2 and Khachmaz Secondary School No. 8 were selected the winners of the announced contest.  

The teachers of the secondary schools of Baku, Sumgait, Shamakhi and Khachmaz and Ivanovo village school were awarded "The Best Russian Teacher of the Year ".
