Azerbaijani ombudsperson receives Iraqi ambassador

Azerbaijani human rights commissioner Elmira Suleymanova has met with Iraqi ambassador Heydar Shiye Gubeyshi al-Barrak.
Suleymanova praised "friendship" ties between Azerbaijan and Iraq, which, she said, have rich history and culture, the Ombudsman Apparatus reported.
Suleymanova briefed the diplomat about activities of her office, saying it attaches "great" significance to cooperation with NGOs, international organizations, as well as embassies of foreign countries in Azerbaijan.
She notedthe importance of determiningthe overall prioritiesof cooperationin thefield ofhuman rightswith theIraqi Embassy. Suleymanovamade recommendations on thedevelopmentandstudy ofthe proposalson the prospects ofcooperation.
Al-Barrak said his country is interested in further boosting cooperation with Azerbaijan in all fields, including human rights.He showed interest in themaindirectionsofthe Ombudsman Office.
