Relations between religion and state at highest level in Azerbaijan (UPDATE)

The tolerance, the relations between religion and the state are at the highest level in Azerbaijan, Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, told reporters Oct. 24.

Pashazade made this statement as part of the blood donation campaign in connection with the Day of Ashura.

He said that the foundation of the relations between religion and the state was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Pashazade said that these relations will remain unchanged in the future.

"The tolerance, the relations between religion and the state are at the highest level in Azerbaijan," Pashazade said.

He said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev supports the relations between religion and the state at the highest level.

Pashazade also said that the blood donation campaign was also held in Turkey and other countries.

"Azerbaijan's positive traditions are being spread in other countries," he said. "Along with the martyrs of Karbala, we also read the prayers for the repose of our martyrs."

Pashazade and Mubariz Gurbanli, the chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations attended this campaign and donated blood.

The blood donation campaign is being held in connection with the Day of Ashura in Azerbaijan Oct. 24.
